My Design Experience

Traditional Mediums

As per many artists, my design journey started when I picked up a pencil and paper from a young age, but I didn't focus heavily on my art until my Junior year of high school.

Throughout the course of high school, I took 16 creative courses including mixed mediums such as- metalworking or jewelry making, film photography (including darkroom processes), digital photography, painting, and AP 2D design- which gave me the freedom to experiment with screen printing and wood burning.

I've never been one to lock myself down into a particular medium but over the years I have grown more fond of the digital realm of art.

Digital Mediums

Adobe Software

I started using Photoshop in middle school (2011) and have continued to use the program regularly to this day, the software is almost a no-brainer to me, but I am still learning new things every time I use it!

As for the rest of the Adobe Suite, I have gained experience through my college Digital Art Courses. I gained familiarity and comfort with programs like Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, and Lightroom.

I would like to say that my understanding of these programs is intermediate, I am a fast learner and these programs let me learn at my own pace.

Procreate

Procreate is by far my most used software. I use my iPad Air and Apple Pencil to make digital paintings in Procreate. I have only been using this software for about a year but I have poured countless hours into the pieces I make (almost daily) on this app. This is the software I use to create my commissions. Every piece displayed was made in Procreate. Once I became comfortable with the UI of Procreate I was then able to begin experimenting with my style, and inspirations. I tend to take inspiration from unique portrait photography, LGBTQ+ culture, body positivity, and retro color palettes. I tend to change my style and inspiration frequently and also take a lot of techniques I used from traditional art to make my digital pieces (such as stippling, cross-hatching, color theory, and more).
